Position: Structural Engineer
Job Description:
The role of the structural engineer includes the design
and/or review of all structural documents, generation of
specifications, procedure selection, material selection and
sizing, performing structural calculations, as well as
assisting associated disciplines to resolve design
conflicts. The structural engineer must possess knowledge in
the following areas to be considered for the position:
· Structural Facility Designs utilizing steel, and
concrete, in accordance with all applicable
codes, including IBC, IRC. · Foundation, Retaining Wall,
Footings designs. · Wind Load calculations (ASCE 7). ·
Building/Structural Failure Analysis.
Job
Responsibilities/Duties: The structural engineer is
expected to be able to participate in meetings and design
reviews with clients and teammates in a professional manner.
The structural engineer must be able to work independently
and effectively balance their workload to maintain project
schedules and successfully complete duties:

Technical writing including reports, specifications, and
design standards. · Prepare calculations for structural
steel and concrete structures. · Prepare structural
designs for steel and concrete structures, foundations,
framing layouts, connection details. · Analyze
structures using computer modeling and hand calculations.
· Perform reviews, assemble and prepare design modification
packages. · Develop / review project cost and quantity
estimates. · Check structural design drawings for
accuracy and completeness. · Check vendor shop drawings
for accuracy and completeness. · Perform review of
projects assuring QA/QC requirements are met. · Perform
as lead structural engineer on appropriate projects
including technical/ project
management and site inspections. · Physically capable of
performing site inspections and climbing ladders. ·
Position requires some travel, domestic and international.
Job Requirements (education, licenses,
certifications, skills): Applicants must possess
computer operation skills and are able to utilize Microsoft
Office Word, Excel, and Outlook. Applicants must demonstrate
proficiency in using design applications such as STAAD, RISA
3D, Revit, AutoCAD, or Microstation, Enercal, etc. In
addition applicants must meet the following requirements to
be considered for the position:
· Applicant must hold
a B.S. or higher in Structural Engineering from an
accredited university and have a minimum of 5
years professional experience. · Applicant must possess
professional registration / license in the State of South
Carolina or be able to obtain a license by means
of reciprocity within 6 months of date of hire.
· Prior experience in the design of concrete and steel
structures. · Knowledge of codes, standards, criteria,
and design execution pertinent to structural
engineering. · A broad knowledge of industry and
regulatory standards pertaining to residential
construction industry, a plus. · Excellent writing,
presentation and communication skills. · Ability to be an
individual contributor and work effectively in teams. ·
Demonstrate sound judgment and creative problem solving
capabilities.
Additional Requirements:
Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or legal resident
authorized to work in the US. Applicant must be Bilingual,
fluent in speaking and proficient in reading and writing in
Spanish.
